A Lesson in Friendship
The funeral director says that the moment he saw the young man weeping bitterly and kissing his friend’s forehead after the shroud was ready was one of the most genuine scenes he had ever witnessed. It was an image that taught him how the love between friends can be purer than blood, and how some losses feel like losing your very soul.
The shocking part is that the young man who helped wash the body was tormented by guilt, believing that because he refused to ride with his friend on the day of the accident, he was indirectly the cause of his death. He continued to blame himself and wept bitterly, even after the burial.
